Welcome to Snowball Creek Electronics

Personal Background

Hello, my name is Keith Trayler. I've spent over 35 years in the electronics manufacturing industry as a test engineer... designing, building, and programming electronic test systems that would verify the functionality of electronic PCB's in low to medium volume manufacturing plants. I have worked with nearly everything from medical, industrial, to military. I retired in 2016 and in the years following, moved to Canada. I have always had an HO model railroad layout of some kind where-ever I lived. Now that I'm retired, I have much more time to persue my passion of model trains and electronics design. My personal goal has always been to design and build all of my own electronics for my model railroad. This still holds true today - I have zero commercial products being used on my layout, unless we considder Snowball Creek products, as they are now 'commercial'!

Snowball Creek's origins

I originally founded Snowball Creek Electronics in 2022 as a place to share excess model railroad accessory boards and modules. Although I am retired, I mostly do this for fun. I'm certainly not going to become rich from this endeavor, but I would at a minimum like to break even or have some resources to fund my own layout. This is the business plan, such that it is.

In 2023 we added a programming team as we began development of LCC devices.

Our Products

What you will see: You will find Snowball Creek products to be feature rich, reliable, and low cost when you compare our features to other popular manufacturers. All product designs are designed to NMRA standards, where applicable.

What you will not see: Things that are not obvious in our products that set us apart from others are very robust designs. Things like ESD protected inputs and outputs, wide input ranges, and short circuit protected outputs, among others. These are the things that make a product reliable, robust, and flexible. Things that you probably will not find on many popular manufacturers boards, as these increase complexity and component count. In my opinion, the extra cost is money well spent.

Thank you for browsing our website and considdering our products for your layout.
